As a person who just passed the exam, I enjoyed writing about it :) Well, it is still a big success!I know some people who celebrate getting the Drivers Licence. And I also know many who can not pass the exam. As its written in German Language books: Fuhrerschein Prufung bestanden! Gut gemacht! I did not understand it well at first, but now I do. People are full of stories about this exam. Yes, it is hard.
Second pic: An honest parking slot mistake and the sudden bill. In order to get a chocolate at a petrol station, we paid this amount. 5 Franks of chocolate immediately became 45 Franks! In short, getting the licence is not enough. Non EU Nationals need to attend the exam and get their licence which is valid in all EU countries including UK.
Some important notes about the licence:
1- You need to personally go and apply to Canton`s traffic center (below are some links): strassenverkehrsamt
2- Your drivers licence is valid for 1 year. After 1 year you have alimit of 3 months. But do not trust it!
3- First, you have a simply 10 minute eye test that costs about 20 Franks at Brille shops.
4- You take your eye test results, put a picture, fill in the form and apply to Canton`s traffic center.
5- They send a date for practical exam to your home by post.
6- You may change the date depending on the reason and Cantonal regulations. I changed it 2 times. But you must go to the center and claim by yourself. I was lucky to do it via telephone and my provate teacher.
7- Once you receive your exam date, you get prepared for the exam. Min 4 lessons are required depending on your performance. There are some rules not written in the books.
8- Driving Licence book: Attached book is in English and the proce is about 30 Franks. A great guide to have at home.
Important! If you will change your Canton you have 2 choices: Apply and take the exam in your existing Canton. Or just apply in the new Canton. It worths checkinh out with existing Cantons Traffic Center. This is important as you must learn the new cantons roads!
Attention:
Memorize the signs!
Never speed up at Zone 30!
When you stop do not give hand sign to children!
Give attention to non parking areas!
Do not memorize 50 or 60 zones as they are sometimes changing!
